Piaggio P.148
Derivato dal Fokker S.11 di concezione olandese, il Piaggio P.148 viene prodotto su licenza in Italia dagli inizi del 1950. Impostato dall'Ing. Giovanni Casiraghi, l'aereo viene costruito e collaudato in soli sette mesi. Il 12 febbraio 1951 il prototipo "italiano" viene portato in volo a Villanova d'Albenga dal Com.te Aldo Gasperi. L'esordio operativo del P.148 si è avuto nel traino alianti, prima di essere impegnato nel compito più naturale di addestratore "ab initio" presso il 3° Gruppo Scuole Volo di Galatina-Lecce, poi presso le scuole di volo equipaggi (Scuola Plurimotori) di Latina, nei C.A.V. (Centri Addestramento al Volo), nelle Squadriglie Collegamento dei vari reparti operativi e presso i reparti volo delle varie Regioni Aeree. Nello Zaire ed in Somalia i P.148 hanno contribuito a formare i primi piloti militari delle aviazioni locali. L'aereo in mostra al Parco Tematico dell'Aviazione conserva codici e insegne della Scuola Volo Basico Avanzato Elica di Latina che lo impiegava per il perfezionamento dei piloti provenienti dalle Scuole di Lecce.
The P. 148 was a version of the Dutch Fokker S.11 built under licence in Italy in the early 1950's. Redesigned by Giovanni Casiraghi, it was constructed and tested in only seven months, and the italian prototype first flew at Villanova d'Albenga on 12 February 1951, piloted by Captain Aldo Gasperi. The P.148 came into service as a towing plane for gliders, but it was soon used in its more natural role, as an initial trainer, at the 3rd Flight Training Group at Galatina (Lecce), and later at the crew training schools of Latina and in several flight training centres. It has also served in squadrons providing liaison between operative units, and with flight divisions of Italy,s regional air commands. The P. 148 was used to train the first military pilots of the air forces of Zaire and Somalia. The plane on display at our museum carries the markings of the Advanced Flying School of Latina, where it was used for the additional training of pilots from the flying schools of Lecce.
Der Piaggio P.148, Abkömmling des Fokker S.11 holländischer Konzeption, erhielt in Italien Anfang 1950 die Produktionslizens. Vom Ingenieur Giovanni Casiraghi entworfen, wurde das Flugzeug in nur 7 Monaten konstruiert und überprüft. Tatsächlich wurde der italienische Prototyp am 12. Februar 1951 vom Kommandanten Aldo Gasperi in Villanova d'Albenga zum Fliegen gebracht. Sein operatives Debüt hatte der P.148 im Heraufziehen der Segelflugzeuge, bevor er als Ausbilder "Ab Initio" bei der 3. Gruppe der Flugschule in Galatina/Lecce, dann an den Schulen der Flugbesatzungen in Latina und schließlich in den Flugausbildungszentren, in den Flugabteilungen verschiedener Luftraumregionen eingesetzt wurde. In Zaire und Somalia haben die P.148 dazu beigetragen, die ersten Militärpiloten der lokalen Luftwaffe zu formieren. Das im Museum ausgestellte Flugzeug trägt den Code und die Aufschrift der Propellerflugschule von Latina, welche es für die Perfektionierung der aus den Schulen von Lecce stammenden Piloten einsetzte.
