MiG-21 UM "Mongol-B"
Il MiG-21 UM è l'ultima versione del caccia intercettore da addestramento e combattimento MiG-21. Velivolo destinato all'addestramento dei piloti al volo supersonico ed al combattimento in qualsiasi condizione di tempo e visibilità, l'esemplare in mostra ha infatti la caratteristica tendina oscurante, montata all'interno del tettuccio, che obbligava l'allievo (seduto nel posto anteriore), a compiere il cosiddetto volo cieco o strumentale. In questa versione da addestramento il MiG-21 non presenta cannoni e ciò ha facilitato l'installazione di un grande aerofreno anteriore, oltre ai pneumatici maggiorati. Questo velivolo è stato in servizio presso lo Jagdgeschwader 19, con codici in fusoliera 231 (Werk n. 516915011 - Taktischees Kennzeichen der Bundeswehr "2382") e successivamente incorporato dalla Luftwaffe dopo la riunificazione tedesca.
The MIG-21 UM was the last version of the MIG-21 training and combat interceptor. It was designed as a trainer for supersonic flight and combat in all conditions of weather and visibility, and the example seen here has the characteristic black-out curtain mounted inside the cockpit, which forced the trainee pilot, seated at the front, to fly "blind", using instruments alone. No guns were mounted on this trainer version of the MIG-21, and this allowed a large front air-brake to be fitted, together with over-size tyres. The plane seen here was assigned to the 19th Jagdgeschwader squadron, with fuselage number 231 (service number 516915011). Following the reunification of Germany, it was incorporated into the Luftwehr with the number 2832.
Letzte Ausführung des Jagdabfängers und Kampfflugzeuges MiG-21 als Übungsflugzeug. Das Flugzeug war für die Flugschulen bestimmt, um die Piloten für den Überschallflug und den Luftkampf bei Allwettereinsätzen auszubilden. Das ausgestellte Exemplar zeigt den charakteristischen "Vorhang" im Inneren der Kabine über dem vorderen Pilotensitz, der normgemäß dem Schüler zur Verfügung stand, und der den Zweck hatte, den Blindflug oder Instrumentalflug auszuüben. In dieser Ausbilderversion hat die MiG-21 keine Kanonen aufgerüstet, dies hat die Installation von großen Vorderbremsklappen erleichtert, sowie eine größere Bereifung der Räder. Dieses Flugzeug war im Dienst bei dem Jagdgeschwader 19, mit der Werknummer 516915011- Taktisches Kennzeichen der Bundeswehr "2382" und wurde nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung von der Deutsche Luftwaffe übernommen.
